Rookie Class (Novice)

This class is for beginners. Racers who consistently win will be moved up to the next class.

  • Chassis: Kyosho MR03S, MR03S2, MR03 RTR, MR04 RWD, Associated SR27 (RWD only)

  • Electronics: Only the stock Kyosho ReadySet board and radio are permitted, and no upgrades are allowed.

  • Transmitter: Must be the stock Kyosho KT-531P.

  • Motor: Only the Kyosho MZ9P brushed motor can be used, with no modifications.

  • Gearing: Must be stock.

  • Batteries: Cars must be powered by 4 AAA batteries

    • Allowed types: Alkaline, Ni-MH, or Ni-Cd (Any Brand)

  • Wheels/Tires: You must use rubber tires and production wheels. Foam or 3D-printed wheels are not allowed. Traction compounds are also prohibited.

  • Body: Any manufactured molded hard shell that fits the allowed wheelbase

    • All parts must be original for that body

    • Limited wheel and ground clearance modifications allowed

    • Maximum body length: 180mm

    • Maximum width: 83mm

    • Not Allowed:

      • Shaving/thinning body material for weight reduction

      • Lexan roofs, windows, and wings

    • Headlight requirements:

      • Original headlight covers must be installed

      • Headlight buckets may be removed/omitted

      • Lost headlight covers may be replaced with decal/tape

    • Taillights and covers may be removed/omitted

    • Small body parts (mirrors, canards, exhausts, front splitters) may be omitted to prevent racing damage

    • Wings: Standard rear wings for corresponding hard-shell body may be used with no height limit

    • Custom aftermarket plastic wings must meet 45mm height limit from ground

Redline Box Stock

  • Chassis: Kyosho MR03S, MR03S2, MR03 RWD, MR04.

  • Electronics: Stock Kyosho ReadySet board only. No EVO, aftermarket boards, or FET upgrades are allowed.

  • Transmitter: Must be the stock Kyosho KT-531P.

  • Motor: Kyosho MZ9P or PN 70T brushed motor is allowed.

  • Gearing: 6T–9T pinion only.

  • Batteries: Cars must be powered by 4 AAA batteries

    • Allowed types: Alkaline, Ni-MH, or Ni-Cd (Any Brand)

  • Wheels/Tires: You must use production wheels with rubber tires from Kyosho, PN, or Marka. Foam or 3D-printed wheels are not allowed, and traction compounds are prohibited.

  • Body: Any manufactured molded hard shell that fits the allowed wheelbase

    • All parts must be original for that body

    • Limited wheel and ground clearance modifications allowed

    • Maximum body length: 180mm

    • Maximum width: 83mm

    • Not Allowed:

    • Allowed from any manufacturer: bearings, wheel nuts, springs, and T-Plates

    • Only original Kyosho front and rear suspension parts may be used

    • No added weight via tungsten, brass, or other materials

    • Prototype parts are not allowed.

    • Aftermarket parts must be publicly announced on social media or websites. They must also be available for national purchase 45 days before the race. For 3D-printed parts, the files must be publicly shared 30 days before the event.

Redline 2WD Stock (AAA SPEC)

  • Chassis: Kyosho MR01–MR04, MR03S/S2/RWD, PN PNR2.5W.

  • Electronics: Any Mini-Z–compatible board is allowed, and FET upgrades are permitted. Gyro receivers are not allowed.

  • Transmitter: Open.

  • Motor: Any manufacturer's 3500Kv Brushless or 50 Turn Brushed motor with a maximum can diameter of 15mm. The maximum Kv is 3800, and motors must not be tampered with or modified.

  • Gearing: Any manufacturer's pinion and spur gears are allowed. Tooth counts must be clearly distinguishable by markings or color for inspection. All gears must be inspected and painted before the event. The standard ratio is a 53T spur and a 16T pinion or smaller unless the event specifies otherwise for track conditions.

  • Batteries: Cars must be powered by 4 AAA batteries

    • Allowed types: Alkaline, Ni-MH, or Ni-Cd (Any Brand)

  • Wheels/Tires: Only rubber tires and production wheels are allowed. Foam and 3D-printed wheels are not permitted. Traction compounds are prohibited. All brands of plastic and aluminum 1/28 scale production wheels are allowed.

    • Front-wheel width: 8.5mm.

    • Rear-wheel width: 11mm (not including the outer flange/disk).

    • Maximum wheel diameter: 20mm.

    • Minimum wheel diameter: 18.5mm.

    • Wheels must be original designs made for 1/28 scale cars.

    • Wheels and tires must fit inside the body.

  • Bodies: Molded hard plastic bodies like Kyosho Autoscale, PN Hard, or Jomurema are required. Lexan windows and roofs are allowed, but not lexan bodies.

  • Dimensions & Weight:

    • Wheelbase: 86–102mm.

    • Minimum ground clearance: 1.0mm.

    • The track width must fit inside the body shell, and wheels cannot extend past the body when viewed from above.

    • Minimum weight: 160 grams (race ready)

    • Any aftermarket 1/28 scale publicly available production or 3D printed parts allowed

    • Adding weight via tungsten putty, stick weight, or cut hobby brass is allowed

    • Not Allowed:

      • Prototype parts

    • Public availability requirements:

    • Parts must be publicly announced via social media or website

    • Parts must be available for purchase nationally 45 days prior to race

    • 3D print files must be shared with the public 30 days before event start

Redline 2500 LiPo Stock

  • Chassis: A wide range of chassis are permitted, including Kyosho MR03S/S2/RWD, Jomurema, GLR/GLR-GT/GL-GTR, MRC01, PN PNR2.5W, PN R3.0, RTRC RTA, Atomic MRZ/MRX/MRV, RX28/SE G1–G3, NEXX Skyline, Specter, MWX R.1, G-Force Lightning, XBility XB1, and AE RC28.

  • Electronics: Any 1/28 compatible ESC in "blinky mode" (No timing or boost).

  • Transmitter: Open.

  • Motor: 2500Kv brushless (sensorless or sensored).

  • Gearing: The standard ratio is a 12T pinion and a 53T spur.

  • Batteries: Any commercially available 2s LiPo or dual 1s LiPo batteries. Max voltage is 8.4v.

  • Wheels/Tires: Only rubber tires and production wheels are allowed. Foam and 3D-printed wheels are not permitted. Traction compounds are prohibited. All brands of plastic and aluminum 1/28 scale production wheels are allowed.
